Turning all night?

The big mail day we had on Wednesday continues to produce packages. A box from Bill showed up today, bringing more snacks, Sudoku puzzles, and a Rubik's Cube! I never could solve it when I was a kid. It quickly became scrambled and will likely stay that way for the next several months. Nevertheless, it has provided some enterainment for several folks in the ready room in the few hours that it's been out of the box. I think Janell wins the prize for the strangest item sent so far. I have never seen a Chicken Chucker before, let alone used one. Rather than try to describe it, I think I'll let your imagination run wild. All I'll say is, this one could put an eye out!
Every day since the RAS we've had a couple mail call's (when the mail is distributed to ship's departments and squadrons) as the tons of mail slowly get sorted.

Today was another tough maintenance day and I'll likely be up through most of the night ground turning aircraft to make sure they are ready for the next fly day. Why, then, am I writing this blog at 2240 at night and not getting in a little sleep? I'm not sure. I think I'll follow my own advice and catch a nap before I get the call.
Janell left on her trip yesterday and I just got an email that's she's loading up kids and heading for the Grand Canyon right now. I know you'll join me in praying for the girls' safety on the road. Unfortunately, they'll be out of cell phone and computer contact for a couple days. I'll definitely miss hearing from her. I tried to call home over the last couple days to catch them before they left, but the phone connections from the ship have been very poor and we never got in touch. Not to mention that most of the sailor phones usually have a line of at least 2 or 3 people (which can take a while to work through). OK. Off to bed for a little while.
